Report

One thing was evident today. SSS were determined to finish top of the group and after 3 minutes they had made that very likely.
Star were hit by an overwhelming home side and 2-0 was the least they deserved for a devastating start to this shield encounter.

The visitors were guilty of taking this fixture as a non-event. Leaving key members out or at home and Stafford's lower league grit certainly had Star on the backfoot for most of the first period.

Star's first and only corner of the half was well headed home by Matt B. On the stroke of half time.

It has to be said it would be interesting to see in which "Soccer School" grabbing players around the throat is practised, but this unsavoury moment was allowed to go unpunished with Oz proving a reformed character picking himself up and giving his team a super performance without retaliation. Well done Oz!
This game was littered with fouls awarded to Star, unfortunately the official of the day felt this was as much as he was prepared to give.

A reshuffle saw Star begin to take control and 2-2 looked only a moment away. Instead SSS broke well and ended the tie with a good finish. 3-1

Clearly this result will have little effect on Star's season and the final 5-2 scoreline will have the "Red's" hoping we meet SSS in the next stage of this competition.

A mention for Jordan who was kept out of the team today but was finally released late on to score a superb volleyed goal for his team's second.
