Report

If ever there was a game of two halves this was it.
A muddy bumpy pitch could have been used as an excuse for a lack of good passing movements but the hosts obviously wanted to reverse their recent defeat at McKechnies and took the lead from a powerful run out wide.

An awful goal from Red Star's point of view as Utd's forward simply waltzed along the bye-line, unchallenged to slip the ball in the visitors net at the near post!

The first period seemed to install the home-sides determination to take a scalp and although Star were beginning to threaten with some nice moves they were losing the midfield far too often.

Fortunately for AFC the next 35 minutes seemed to be played in a completely different place.

Not prepared to give away their current second spot easily, Star performed magnificently.
James was welcomed back from long-term injury to produce a fine display of ball winning, ball distribution and link-up play. Dom and Joseph constantly broke through on the flanks and Matt B added to his impressive repertoire with a perfectly placed free-kick. Courtney had another fine match and got his reward as did Nick who was released from his defensive duties to cause mayhem further up the field.

Not forgetting a reshuffle in defence that stood solid against some super- fast Holly Lane attackers.

This was another real test for our team. Again they passed with flying colours!

2nd half was stunning.....
