Batter Mr.Blatter! [3 Dec @ 12:00am]

HERE'S A TALKING POINT TO GET YOU STARTED........ Thursday 2nd December 2010 will be remembered for the complete humiliation given out to England’s FA for their valiant bid to stage the World Cup in 2018. But was it a surprise? And what should we do about FIFA's obvious dislike of all things English? Already our tabloids are pointing the finger at Mr. Sepp Blatter: head of FIFA and controller of all things football. A recent Panorama TV programme suggested corruption within our games governing body and the timing of its showing may have done little to help the FA’s bid. But did we really have a hope anyway? The winners were Russia. Said to be the least prepared and weakest economically. 2022 was awarded to Qatar: With no current football infrastructure and a population less than Bristol, the sweltering heat will be the least of their problems. The FA insists our bid was the strongest in all categories yet we only gained one other vote from Cameroon! Millions upon Millions of English pounds have now been wasted bidding for the World cup, is it time to get clever? Suggestions we should pull out of FIFA are futile. No World cup, Champions league, Europa League etc etc. Lets face it, our game would suffer without these competitions, top players would just move to other foreign clubs. So Blatter and his merry men have us in their net. Or do they? If we really believe Russia and Qatar are the wrong venues and English soil should have been visited by the World in 2018 lets make a stand now and play FIFA at their own game. USA & Australia are equally unhappy by the way they have been treated so we may gain their support in an English bid to end FIFA domination. So what should the FA do? Throwing our dummies out now would simply look like we are bad losers, Blatter is already ahead with this having mentioned “losing bidders should do so gracefully”. So why not simply make it clear we are very concerned about their decisions and continue to publicise this point. The FA and everyone involved with our game should continue to throw doubt on Russia & Qatar’s ability to provide a good World cup. English media should ridicule the decision to take football to these “corrupt” countries. Throw scorn on the idea that 22 men can chase a ball for 90 minutes in 40c. And then if we are proved right….. People will begin to see things the English way.
